[BUG] Sun Java 5 JDK

As I told in my last post, there’s some kind of trouble with Maple and Compiz. I’ve noticed that it’s not only with Maple, also with SqlDeveloper. They have a thing in common, both are Java apps. So isn’t Maple’s fault, neither SqlDeveloper’s. The problem is with the version 5 of the Sun Java JDK. It has a bug that makes java apps working bad when compiz is enabled. I have solved this problem and it’s very easy.

The solution is to remove the sun-java5-jdk packet from your system, and install the latest version of the Sun Java JDK, which now is number 6.

With an easy:

$ sudo apt-get remove sun-java5-jdk

And then a:

$ sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk

The problem should be fixed!

[Tutorial] Problems with Maple and Compiz?

Hi there!

Like everyone, I installed Maple and when I tried to run it.. Yay, I got a ugly grey window!

I asked Google how to fixed it and i got the way:

1. Go to your Maple path: $MAPLE/bin
2. Find the xmaple file.
3. Open it with a text editor
4. Find the line: export MAPLE
5. Under that line, type: export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit
6. Save
7. Run Maple
8. Enjoy!

Changing my desktop look

So yeah, I got tired of my black theme… it’s so.. boring! Seeing always dark tones.. it was kind of depressing working at my PC!!!

Now I got a better look for it! As I looove the blue color, the new theme is… BLUE! Yes you got it!

Well, I really don’t have much to say because I’ve lots of college stuff and I’ve spent a whole afternoon giving my desktop a better look. So here it is, my new desktop!
